This has got to be worth a groan. My friend says she and her fiancee are eloping... in January. I told her it wouldn't be eloping if they were planning it. And her reply was that yes, they are eloping, because "an elopement is not a wedding." Maybe not, but her plan isn't an elopement, either!
Merriam-Webster says... Elope:
2 a : to run away from one's husband with a lover b : to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent
If I don't tell anyone else, maybe, just maybe, they can elope (because it will be a secret).
*groan*
